WHAT IS KAOLIN?
Kaolin as alson known as kaolin is an ore composed of hydrated aluminum silicates, such as kaolinite and halloysite, and has special characteristics that allow its use in the manufacture of paper, ceramics, paints, etc. They have plasticity and dry mechanical resistance.
HOW IS KAOLIN PROCESSING?
There are basically two processes for processing kaolin, the dry and the wet. The process of wet processing is simpler, being carried out when the kaolin already has adequate whiteness and granulometric distribution, as well as low quartz content.
IS KAOLIN A FERTILIZER?
Yes, kaolin is used to make fertilizers for agribusiness.
DOES KAOLIN CAUSE DAMAGE TO HEALTH?
Kaolin does not represent any risk to animal, human health or the environment, allowing the performance of several consumption tests with scientific advances in animal nutrition without resulting any damage to society.
KAOLIN IN CIVIL CONSTRUCTION
In civil construction, kaolin is used in almost all products, such as table ceramics, sanitary wares, paints, coatings, porcelain tiles, production of enamels, etc.
KAOLIN MINERALOGY
Kaolin is mainly composed of kaolinite, a hydrated aluminum silicate, whose unit cell is expressed by Al4 (Si4O10) (OH) 8. Kaolinite is a phyllosilicate (clay-mineral) with theoretical chemical composition of 39.50% Al2O3, 46.54% SiO2 and 13.96% H2O; however, small variations in its composition can be observed.
